So you’re insanely gifted in your field, you have all of the qualifications you need and more and you KNOW you can change peoples lives with what you do. You set up in business and your journey begins.
You create a logo, you pick your company colours (kind of) and you create a website. Then you realise you need people to know who you are and trust your services, but you realise that this isn’t going to be a quick fix.
It’s going to take time and a LOT of marketing for you to build your know, like and trust with your audience before they start buying from you. “But marketing? Hang on, I need to know marketing, sales, accounting, customer excellence as well as the field that I set up the business for in the first place?” I hear you say.
Being a business owner is hard work, but if you set up correctly, keep current and you’re not afraid of change or being out of your comfort zone, then you really have got this.
One of the most vital things within your business is your “Brand Presence”. You will of heard this come up in business talks, business learning and you probably will have picked up on me talking about it a LOT too.
But what is it and are you applying it to your business? Let’s take a look…
Brand presence refers to the visibility and recognition of your brand in the market place and in the minds of your consumers. It encompasses all of the ways that your brand is perceived and experienced by your target audience. Get it wrong and you won’t attract the right audience, get it right and keep it going consistently then you are on fire!
A strong brand presence is essential for building brand loyalty, attracting customers, and ultimately, achieving business success.
So are you maximising the brand presence in your company? Here are a few key components, brand presence is larger than you may think…
First up is Brand Identity: this is elements like your business name, logo, colour scheme and design elements that make your business visually distinct. Consistency with these elements will strengthen your brand recognition and your consumers will begin to learn the colours and designs associated with your brand.
Secondly, what is your Online Presence like? In today’s digital age, a significant part of your brand presence will exist online. This includes your website, social media profiles and online advertising. Having a strong online presence can help a brand reach a global audience and engage with customers directly. Increasing and strengthening your know, like and trust.
Next up, is your Advertising and Marketing. The way your brand promotes itself through advertising and marketing campaigns significantly impacts its presence. Effective advertising can increase brand visibility and shape consumer perceptions.
Number 4. Believe it or not, Customer Experience comes under the umbrella of Brand Presence. The experience customers have with a brand, whether this be ‘in-store’ (in clinic, in studio) or online all contribute to its presence. Insuring your clients have positive interactions and providing an exceptional customer service can create a favourable brand impression (and often leads to word of mouth recommendations - more on that shortly).
Number 5. Content Creation. Are you producing valuable and relevant content? Are you blogging, posting videos, podcasts, quality images of your workplace and brand. All of your content, providing it’s to a high quality, will build a loyal following.
Next up, Public Relations. This is how your brand handles media coverage and press releases. Your PR efforts can influence its presence in the media and perception.
Number 7. Community engagement. Engaging with the community and participating in events or sponsorships can enhance you brands presence within a specific geographic area or industry.
Number 8. Product quality and Innovation. Consistently delivering high-quality products or services and staying innovative in your industry can strengthen your brand presence as a leader or pioneer.
Number 9. Word of mouth recommendations and reviews. Positive word of mouth from happy customers and favourable online reviews can significantly impact brand presence. Equally, negative ones can harm it.
And finally, Consistency. You hear it all the time. Be consistent. A consistent brand message, tone and image across all touchpoint help reinforce brand presence and recognition. BE CONSISTENT!
SO to summarise, a strong brand presence is about creating a positive and lasting impression in the minds of your consumers, creating trust, and making sure that your brand is top-of-mind when they think about products or services within your industry. Building and maintaining brand presence is an ongoing effort that requires strategic planning and consistent execution across various channels and customer interactions (Not. Just. Social. Media.!)
